Rock Kitchen Harris sets out its dominion

22nd August 2007

A set of innovative 10 foot high advertising hoardings designed by Leicester communications agency Rock Kitchen Harris, are helping to attract hordes of visitors to a new £200m housing development.

The set of 2m high boards are situated at George Wimpey Homes' new Dominion Plaza, a development of 1700 homes on the site of a former car factory in Stoke, Coventry. The hoardings, which stretch for 250 metres along Coventry's Humber Link Road, are topped off with a unique and eye-catching set of silhouetted white figures, labelled the 'village people', which have been attracting particular interest among locals.

Conjured up by Rock Kitchen Harris' design team, the imaginative boards are believed to be the first hoardings of such size and length to be used in the region. They were designed to reflect the large and ambitious nature of the development, which seeks to create a new and vibrant urban village community.

Paul Petherick, Rock Kitchen Harris Design Director, said:
“We wanted to achieve a design that reflected the size and ambition of the development – a striking, stand-out contemporary urban village that would be the central hub for a dynamic, new community. The hoardings were an interesting project to work on and its great that they're attracting so much interest.”

Anne Wallace, George Wimpey Sales Manager, said:
“As far as we know, no one has ever used hoardings of this size and length in the region before and they are certainly having the desired effect. The giant silhouetted white figures atop the hoardings are especially capturing people's attention. They're already being affectionately called the 'village people' and our visitor levels from passing traffic have significantly risen in just a matter of days.”
