Last year we were asked to help the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust (LRWT) promote its Wild Forest School initiative, after the charity received funding from players of People’s Postcode Lottery. The project was a big success and saw groups of children from across the city getting out and about to explore nature.
Our PR campaign focused on gaining recognition within the local and regional media for the support provided by players, as well as for the valuable activities the funding enables. We secured coverage across the Leicester Mercury, BBC Radio Leicester, East Midlands Today and in local lifestyle magazines, gaining mentions for both the Trust and People’s Postcode Lottery. This media coverage also gave LRWT an opportunity to thank local players for their support.
Having secured funding for another year, the Trust has appointed us to continue our press activities throughout 2016 and look at new ways to publicise its activities.
We’ve developed a social media strategy and week-by-week plan to help the Wild Forest School team share the fantastic work they’re doing with a wider audience. We’ll also be supporting LRWT to create case studies and capture inspiring video footage of Wild Forest School sessions.
