For the past few years we’ve made the decision to stop sending the usual Christmas cards to our friends and clients, and have instead put our festive budget towards a much more worthy cause. This year we’ve donated £860 to Crisis at Christmas, providing 33 homeless people with a place at one of Crisis’ centres over Christmas.
No one should have to spend Christmas alone, but for those who are cut off from friends and family without a roof over their heads, the festive season can be especially difficult. Crisis want to help end this by providing the much needed support to enable people to take their first vital steps out of homelessness at this critical time of year.
Crisis at Christmas is made possible by teams of volunteers across the country who help to provide homeless people with a safe, warm space to relax and enjoy Christmas. At each of the 13 centres guests are served nutritious hot Christmas meals, and given access to a warm shower, health checks, haircuts and other crucial services. Crisis staff will also be on hand to give help and advice for each person’s individual situation, and guests will be encouraged to come back to one of the centres in the new year for ongoing support.
We’re really proud to be able to support such an important cause, and we’d urge you to consider doing the same. You can find out more at Crisis.org.uk.
