De Montfort University Re-branding The Innovation Centre

Background

We have worked with De Montfort University Leicester for around 5 years producing marketing materials for a number of their faculties.

DMU Leicester is one of the top 25 universities for graduate employment*, and is a vibrant, multicultural hub of learning and creativity. The university strives to provide a modern, inspiring environment for students, graduates and local businesses, and so has created The Innovation Centre, which offers free, informative events, surgeries and networking sessions, as well as work space for budding business people.

With a brief to attract more start-ups, entrepreneurs and innovators, Rock Kitchen Harris was asked to develop and deliver a new brand positioning for the centre.

Approach

We created a new, colourful and informative look and feel for The Innovation Centre to be used across all marketing material.

These designs incorporated bold widening colour blocks to represent the progression small businesses can make with the centre’s help. This needed to stand out amongst the competition of other local competitors and universities and that offer similar services, and be flexible enough to be used across all online and offline channels.

Initially we started work on window contravisions for the building, where vinyl is applied to the exterior glass filled with small holes so that light can pass through, whilst enabling a marketing message to be visible to passing traffic. We then moved on to an exhibition stand and a fold out brochure to be used to promote the centre during open events and at business conferences.

Results

The client is very happy with the work we've produced to date, so we thought we'd let them explain how it's impacting The Innovation Centre.
