Climate Compatible Growth (CCG) is a £38m UK Aid-funded project led by the Centre for Sustainable Transitions: Energy, Environment and Resilience (STEER) at Loughborough University. Due to the varied nature of their work, they have a vast amount of information in different forms. Sharing that information is a struggle, because the team is very time-poor and lacks the tools to allow them to share it effectively.

The Challenge

The team at CCG came to us with a problem they were facing. Their existing website didn’t allow them to showcase all the great work they were doing behind the scenes, all the white papers they had written, or link other resources with the schemes they had helped implement all over the world.

The Solution

We use a tried and tested framework to deliver all our web projects, flowing through several essential phases to ensure we deliver an end product that looks good, works well, and above all, meets user needs and stakeholder expectations. The first of these phases is discovery. We started with a kick-off session to ensure that the team deployed by RKH fully understood the project, its key requirements and goals, and got a feel for the team.

We conducted group workshops and meetings, interviewing key stakeholders with questions about the organisation, its structure, the existing website and its digital output. We also conducted interviews with real end users to gain further insight from their perspective.

Our desk research around SEO and keyword analysis focused on the content used, a landscape review of CCG’s offering, and design audits to understand the competition. This research provided us with insight and understanding into the organisation, its users and its stakeholders. This allowed us to produce a set of wireframes and a revised sitemap to improve and unify the content, which in turn informed the next phase of the design.

The Outcome

We created a XX-page deck and held a collaborative workshop with CCG to deliver our findings including the investment required to fully realise the project. We then worked with CCG's senior team and decision makers to make sure the information was presented in a digestible way so that it could be delivered to internal stakeholders.
